The Executive Director for Women in Agile (WiA) is accountable for creating and sustaining operational excellence for the purpose of bringing the WiA mission to life. This person will oversee all the work being carried out through our impact programs and operational areas and step-in to provide assistance when needed. This work requires close collaboration with the WiA Board of Directors and Program Teams to ensure our whole operation is running smoothly, effectively and sustainably.
The ideal Executive Director for WiA will be an influential manager who has the ability to lead and motivate an all-volunteer organization. This requires exceptional communication and organization skills as well as an ability to apply a holistic approach to managing the organization’s operations.

Duties & Responsibilities
Work will include day-to-day “lights on, doors open” activities as well as focus on an ordered backlog of goals and objectives defined in partnership with the WiA Board based on priorities and business needs. This could include:
- Managing general operations for WiA, for example:
- Engaging across the organization to create and sustain consistent and effective processes and procedures.
- Working closely with the WiA Board and Program Directors to build and maintain transparency of information across the organization.
- Partnering with the WiA Officers to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met in order to maintain 501(c)(3) status.
- Partnering with the WiA Board and Program Directors to execute annual budgeting and strategic planning activities.
- Providing support for finance operations in partnership with the WiA Treasurer, President and Accountant.
- Reviewing and responding to inbound inquiries and social media interactions from the public, our members and our volunteers.
- Actively engaging with the WiA Board and Program Director for WiA Fundraising & Sponsorship activities in order to build alliances & support that guarantee the sustainability of WiA.
- This may include, but is not limited to identifying prospective donors and sponsors, managing the fundraising and sponsorship pipeline, researching grant opportunities and tracking sponsorship benefits and requirements.
- Supporting the operations of WiA Marketing & Communications..
- This may include, but is not limited to frequent monitoring and interactions through our primary social media channels, collecting content for the WiA newsletter, providing project management oversight for critical projects such as the annual members’ meeting or other Impact Program activities.
- Supporting the operations of WiA Volunteer Management.
- This may include, but is not limited to administration on/off-boarding of volunteers, tracking volunteer needs and managing the pipeline of prospective volunteers.
- Supporting the operations of WiA Impact Programs (Scholarship, Mentorship, Local Communities, etc.).
- This may include, but is not limited to assisting with project management for key program activities, connecting the dots when programs need to work together to achieve goals, stepping in to execute activities when volunteers are unavailable.

- The Executive Director for WiA will be a part-time North American-based independent contractor (1099) who reports to the President of the WiA Board of Directors.
- The initial contract will be through April 30, 2024, with an opportunity for renewal.
- It is expected that there will be an average of 10 hours of work each week with flexibility to work when and where it is most convenient.
- While negotiable, the hourly rate for this position will be $45 USD.
Skills & Prerequisite Experience
The ideal Executive Director for WiA will:
- Be self-directed, proactive and organized with attention to detail.
- Have experience leading or supporting the operations of a US-based 501(c)(3).
- Be talented in ways to inspire and engage teams of volunteers.
- Have interest and experience in fundraising and sponsorship management.
- Possess foundational knowledge and experience with social media content creation and management.
- Have working knowledge and awareness of the Agile Manifesto & Principles along with Agile ways of working.
